One car that stood out to me at Toyota Land, Tokyo, was the Toyota Mark X. The specific name for this concept is the “Toyota Mark X ZiO TGDA Concept”. It is shaped similar to the US Toyota Venza, but with a bit sportier stance and shape. Thanks to Motormavens for the awesome pictures. This is a specially prepared race version of the small van/hatchback car by Mooncraft. This vehicle can be viewed live at Toyota Technocraft facility where the guys at Toyota prepare specialty vehicles. With aggressive aero pieces and thick BBS wheels, this would be a blast to take for a lap. I love the DTM influence on this car.

Thanks goes to RA64FREDDY for showing off a couple pics of this very nice Honda Fit from Indonesia. With a staggered wheel setup, low stance, and Noblesse aero kit, you can’t go wrong on this Fit.

K-Spec Silk JDM aero

Suzuki Wagon R

Came across this Japanese company, K-Spec, that produces aero parts/body kits and exhausts/mufflers for Japanese vans and K-cars. Their aero parts division goes under the smooth name of “Silk”. They go along a bit with the VIP theme with the large bumpers and huge muffler tips. I love the fog lights they add to the front!

Their kits aren’t too over the top and the dual tip muffler works nicely with the SILK kit.

JDM dimensional wheels from BADX

I was browsing an old Style Wagon Club magazine brought back from Japan and came across an ad for wheels from BADX Japan. Most of the wheels they produce are aimed at sub-compacts/smaller cars and have a dimensional face to them with the use of contrasting colors and depth. The wheel pictured above is the “Turbine”, inspired by, well, a turbine!

Another wheel, the DIVA Double Face, which features different colored spokes for a stealth effect, as shown on a JDM Toyota bB.

The offsets could be a little better, but it still looks good in my book.

japanese bB against 1st gen xB

Found the above image browsing on Japanese seat cover maker Y-Brand’s website and had to enjoy the English translation. But then I got thinking at how cool the Japanese spec bB (xB) is pictured on the right. To me, it seems like more of a big brother to the 1st gen xB than the US spec xB. It has the familiar box shape, but with a little face lift and updated grille/headlights. I have featured the new bB on this blog before talking a little bit about its history. If you had to choose between the Japenese spec bB and the new US spec xB, what would you go with?

euro mode EGOIST – JDM-euro style for sub-compacts

Another interesting take of Japanese tuning – Euro style. One shop that specializes this, located in Japan, is Euro Mode Egoist. They take Japanese sub-compacts and transform them in to European styled machines. I love this red Honda Fit with great stance and subtle exterior upgrades, such as this dual exhaust tip with surrounding diffuser above.

Here is a previous look for it, with color matched lips on the wheels and stock bumpers.

Also, found on speedhunters was this sweet Z11 Cube. Some aren’t fans of this color, but I would kill for the new Cube to have this stock JDM color as an option. The OZ Futura wheels that are color matched sets the car off.

SSR Type-F Honda Fit

SSR Wheels, made in Japan and also featured on our SEMA Cube, have outfitted this new Honda Fit with their Type-F wheels. The race prepared look is helped by a Carbon Fiber hood and INGS+1 body kit. This would for sure be a fun grocery getter!

bmw van..?

Saw this at the Jon Sibal blog and had to post it… What you see is not a BMW Van (those don’t exist), but a JDM Honda Odyssey with a front end BMW E92 3-series conversion. Front end conversions (especially with different car manufacturers altogether) are hard to pull off, but this looks so well executed. Rocking camber on each set of wheels and a super-low stance, I’m in awe.

It even has the M3 rear bumper integrated in to it. The final outcome of this project looks like it almost rolled off the production line looking like this.

The interior doesn’t look to have to BMW style, but a classic VIP Van style. This whole car is so clean, I love it.

For reference, here is what a regular JDM Honda Odyssey looks like, which is pretty sweet to start with!

makeshift kei-car/vanning car show – FUJI D1GP 2009

Props to Dino Dalle Carbonare from Speedhunters.com for snapping these pics of the makeshift vanning/kei-car show held in the parking lot at Fuji Speedway, Japan during the professional D1GP drift event. A lot of interesting styling with these cars, with wheel stance spot on and club-like interiors. I like that this style is so original and the more extreme, the better.

reverse mesh march

I’ve always thought reverse mesh wheels looks good on any car… Here is a rather stock looking Nissan Micra/March sporting some SSR mesh wheels in gold in 14″ with Falken Ziex tires. Spotted this car walking around in Tokyo. On a side note – look how clean the car is. So much pride is taken on this car, be it “just” a March.
