Axis Wheels started as a retail store in Anaheim, California, in the heart of the Sport Compact Car custom scene. The year was 1997. They started with 3 employees and a shop of 2500 square feet selling wheels, tires, exhaust and lowering springs. The team were made up with car enthusiast attending car show and motorsport events in the Southern California area.

After about a year a half, Axis relocated to another larger location in Fountain Valley, CA. Today Axis Sport Tuning is in a 20,000 square foot building located in Santa Fe Springs, CA.
