The Hyundai Veloster is Hyundai's alternative to the Scion tC and the likes. A relatively new car, being offered for the first time in 2011, it certainly seems to have a lot going for it. Interesting looks is one thing. A turbocharged engine and nimble chassis is another. While certainly not a sports car, the Veloster isn't claiming to be one either. It's a good looking coupe with decent performance if opting for the turbo option. All this, while beating their competition in the price department.

The reason why we mention the car's styling is it's asymmetrical design. Unlike almost all competitors, it offers a different take on the standard door configuration. Rather than having 2 or 4 side doors, it features 3. While this may sound odd and weird, in reality you do see that it's actually pretty decent. It has a single large door on the driver's side and two separate doors on the other side, albeit a bit smaller. This application can be seen on some minivans and commercial trucks and vans, but is certainly something different when it comes to cars.
As standard, the car comes with a 1.6 liter four cylinder naturally-aspirated engine with 138 horsepower. This is coupled to a six speed-manual or a six-speed double clutch transmission with flappy-paddles behind the steering wheel. And then, we come to the Hyundai Veloster Turbo. A completely different animal when compared to the standard Veloster. Using the Gamma 1.6 liter turbocharged GDi engine, it outputs 204 horsepower, turning the car into a pocket-rocket. Combine this with its weight of 2800 lb and you can see why it's especially good in corners and the twisties. The Turbo also came with extra accessories, as well as new body panels with LED lights.
